Former Journey vocalist, Steve Perry, revealed that he had a cancerous mole surgically removed from his face last May. This came just five months after he lost his girlfriend to the disease.

In a blog post on his official Fanasylum website last June 6, Perry revealed that the surgery results revealed that he was positive with skin cancer.

"Three weeks ago a routine mole was taken off my face and the lab report came back Melanoma skin cancer," wrote the singer. "I've had two surgeries in two weeks to remove all the cancer cells and I've been told they think they got it all and no other treatments are required."

The post also revealed that Perry had lost his girlfriend to breast cancer last December, just a few months before he found out about his own cancer scare.

"Though Kellie and I were only together for 1 and 1/2 years, it was a lifetime of love packed into every moment," wrote the former frontman.

Perry's emotional blog told of how he met, Kellie Nash, a PhD Psychologist and how he and Kellie went through troubling times as she underwent therapy.

According to the post, the ex-Journey singer was at an editing room in May 2011 when he saw Kellie in one of the shots for the closing segment of "Five," a Lifetime Channel Breast Cancer special.

"The camera came across this girl sitting there laughing...I saw her smile," Perry shared. "I asked Patty [Jenkins] who that was. She said, 'That's Kellie Nash, a PHD Psychologist who was diagnosed with breast cancer, had a double mastectomy and she's doing a cameo appearance.'"

Kellie had been battling cancer for three years and was in remission for eight months, according to Steve's blog. She had stage four cancer and was "fighting for her life" when Perry started going out with her.

For the next year and a half, Perry helped Nash through radiation and chemotherapy treatment until on December 14, 2012 "I lost my precious Kellie," Steve shared.

Aside from a broken heart and his cancer scare, no other news have been reported about the singer. His former band the Journey, however, will be kicking off their tour on June 28 at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida.
