Scorpion, the latest and most controversial DLC addition to the roster in Injustice: Gods Among Us, will launch on June 11, developer NetherRealm studios has confirmed on the game's official Facebook page. The Mortal Kombat alum will retail for $5 on the Playstation Network and 400 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live, although the fee has been waved for Season Pass owners. The Red Son skin pack will release on the same day and provide players with new looks for Batman, Deathstroke, and Green Lantern.

Earlier this week, the Red Son costumes were uploaded to servers prematurely, but were quickly removed. Although fans were not fortunate enough to find a Scorpion leak to scratch their itch for new content, series co-creator Ed Boon promises a perfect fit for the studio's new franchise when he finally makes his debut.

"He can't lift up a car like superman but he's very agile, he's a ninja," says Boon in a promotional video. "He can jump all over the place, so that seemed like a natural fit. His costume, designed by Jim, just made him visually fit into the big picture that much better."

Jim Lee, co-publisher at DC Comics adds, "We don't have characters like him in our universe. We have characters that are reborn, or from the Netherrealm, but they don't have that essential part, and that's being a ninja. I think that's the cool combination of the two."

Naturally, Scorpion's move set has been toned down to fit Injustice's T-rating, so don't expect buckets of blood to pour from your favorite DC heroes and villains when the undead ninja is unleashed.

NetherRealm has gone on record that Scorpion is not the last DLC character planned for the game, and has even left heavy handed hints that Martian Manhunter is next on the list in the latest character trailer. Other rumored roster additions include Red Hood and Zatanna. So far, Lobo and Batgirl round out the studio's Season Pass offerings.
