Fans eagerly waiting for information about the upcoming fourth entry in the Super Smash Bros. series are in luck, as the first trailer for the game will be shown during the Nintendo Direct during E3 on June 11. This news comes from the Twitter  of Sora Ltd. designer Masahiro Sakurai, however no other details about the game were revealed. Sora Ltd. is the developer behind both the Wii U and 3DS Super Smash Bros. games that are in development in collaboration with Namco Bandai.

Though the new Super Smash Bros. game was announced back in 2011, very little in known about the game. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata was quoted as saying that the 3DS and Wii U Super Smash Bros. would work together somehow, but failed to elaborate what he meant since that statement.

Nintendo figures to have their hands full with blockbuster game announcements and previews during their E3 Nintendo Direct. In addition to Super Smash Bros, Nintendo will show off footage from Pikmin 3, the new Mario Kart, as well as the new 3D Mario game which has been rumored for quite some time. In addition, many expect to see the announcement of a new Legend of Zelda title for the Wii U.

Nintendo is desperate for games to get players interested in the Wii U again, as sales continue to slow down. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, whose sales are slowing down as well, still manage to sell hundreds of thousands of units more than the Wii U. While many are pointing to the release of Pikmin 3 in August as the beginning of a surge in first party titles for the Wii U, Super Smash Bros. is one of the most beloved franchises that has spanned several generations of consoles. It could bring the Wii U to the next level.
