A 5 year old was found dead after a suicide jumper's body fell on the child, flattening her on the ground in South Korea.

The girl was taking a stroll with her parents on Friday, May 24, when a 39-year-old man jumped from the 11th story of a building in Busan. The girl was readily rushed to the hospital after the incident but was too late and pronounced dead after suffering multiple injuries, including brain damage.

According to The Christian Science Monitor, a police official confirmed that the suicide jumper immediately died after dropping to the ground. The source who insisted not to be named because investigations are still on-going for the incident, said there are still no traces as to why the man jumped off the building. While several eye witnesses saw the man take his life, there were no notes left that could help quickly decide on the cause of the man's suicide.

The Examiner, however, noted that the man was being treated for depression prior to his suicide attempt that not only killed him, but also an innocent child.

According to the CS Monitor, South Korea has one of the highest suicide rates in the world.

"South Korea is No. 1 in suicides per capita among the 34 nations in the OECD - and by a wide margin. The rise has been startling and hard to understand," wrote the report published on the news website. "A 2012 report (based on data from 2010), put South Korea's suicide rate at 33.5 per 100,000 people, up from 28.4 in 2009."

The same report also stated that the growing number of one-person households could attribute to the growing suicide figures.

In 2009, the country's former President Roh Moo-hyun committed suicide just a year after he left office for alleged corruption. The man leaped off a cliff to his death.
