While meeting Danica Patrick at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, former "Today" show anchor, Katie Couric, made her thoughts known over the recent replacement of Ann Curry from NBC's morning show.

According to the Associated Press, Couric said of the ouster, "That is such old news. Are you guys really still writing about that?"

She later on relented and commented, "I felt bad for Ann and I felt bad for the whole team on the show. Transitions like that are really tough. But I know she'll go on and do great things."

Couric and Patrick were filmed while driving around the speedway, clips that are planned to be featured on Couric's upcoming syndicated talk show, "Katie".

As for Ann Curry, it has been two weeks since her tearful exit from the show left many spectators in a state of mixed feelings including emotions ranging from shock to agitation, to anger and to dismay.

On blogs and websites, many people including Curry fans wrote that she shouldn't have been penalized by NBC for the recent ratings slump. Instead, they blamed some of the lackluster segments for the fall in viewership.

"Today" is attempting to regain dominance in morning show ratings after ABC's 'Good Morning America' scored better in several occasions in 2012.

Savannah Guthrie will have to step up as the new co-host in "Today" in order to help NBC drive things up once again. The show, however, is already scoring lower-than-normal ratings.

Ann Curry on the other hand will act as correspondent at large and will be responsible in covering international stories. She would occasionally be featured on Today.
