Tumblr has updated their iOS app, in time as its deal with Yahoo! was made public.

The updated Tumblr app features an interface similar to the recent Android version. As Tumblr noted on iTunes, users will see a "fancy" new post type chooser and app attribution on posts.

The Tumblr version 3.2.2 version, which has a size of 12.8MB, is compatible to the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch third to fifth generation, iPad, and requires iOS 5.0 or later to install.

The update coincidentally comes as the social media website was purchased by Yahoo Inc. for $1.1 billion.

The news of the purchase brought mixed reactions from users and business analysts as Tumblr only made approximately $13 million in revenue, yet it purchased for over $1 billion.

"We promise not to screw it up," said Yahoo Inc. CEO Marrisa Meyer.

Tumblr founder and CEO David Karp reassured users of the social media site that all will be fine with the acquisition. At 26 years old, Karp is expected to have a $275 million stake of the deal.

"Our headquarters isn't moving. Our team isn't changing. Our roadmap isn't changing," Karp stated. "And our mission - to empower creators to make their best work and get it in front of the audience they deserve - certainly isn't changing."

According to the Yahoo CEO, "This allows us to engage both demographics with the other companies. We can bring some of the exciting content to Yahoo or we can bring some of the users of Yahoo to Tumblr."
