Sony is not waiting quietly for Microsoft to announce their next-gen Xbox, as the company has released a teaser video for the PlayStation 4, hinting at the design of the console and announcing that the public will get the their very first look at the device during E3 from June 9-11. The video can be found on Gamespot.

The short, 39 second long video is of an out of focus black box, which must represent the PlayStation 4. The camera zooms in on many different parts of the machine, before announcing "See it First at E3". The trailer shows what looks like angular corners, vents, and a circular edge on the console. The Dualshock 4 is also seen in the trailer, though there has been many details and presentations about the PlayStation 4's controller and it's touchpad and Share button.  The video ends with June 10, 18:00 PST, the time and date of Sony's E3 conference.

While the PlayStation 4 has yet to be officially seen, the console was announced back in February. The reason it did not make an appearance at the reveal event was that the design of the next gen device was not finalized yet.

Sony may have waited until this week to announce this news in hopes that some attention that is being directed towards the next gen Xbox will be diverted back to Sony, which has dominated headlines due to the simple fact the much more is known about the PlayStation 4 than the next-gen Xbox. After all, the newest Xbox does not even have a name yet, and developers refused until recently to discuss the possibility of their games appearing on the next Xbox.

This certainly promises to be a big week in terms of what to expect about the next generation of consoles. With the PlayStation 4 and the next Xbox competing for attention and hype months before they are expected to be released, each company will try to outperform the other as we closer to E3.
