The creators of ABC’s hit fantasy drama ‘Once Upon a Time’ have created a spinoff series for fans to watch called ‘One Upon a Time in Wonderland.’ The new series will be set in Victorian England where young Alice (Sophie Lowe) has been committed by her father in a mental institution for telling the story of a strange land called Wonderland, which she visited after falling in a rabbit hole.

ABC teases, “An invisible cat, a hookah smoking caterpillar and playing-cards that talk are just some of the fantastic things she’s seen during this impossible adventure.” A trailer for the enchanting series shows a despondent Alice talking to the doctors at the mental institution as they discuss a new treatment which will let her forget everything about Wonderland, including the genie she fell in love with and lost.

“Alice seems ready to put it all behind her, especially the painful memory of the genie she fell in love with and lost forever—the handsome and mysterious Cyrus (Peter Gadiot),” ABC continues. “But deep down Alice knows this world is real, and just in the nick of time the sardonic Knave of Hearts (Michael Socha) and the irrepressible White Rabbit (John Lithgow) arrive to save her from a doomed fate. Together the trio will take a tumble down the rabbit hole to this Wonderland where nothing is impossible.”

Back in Wonderland, Alice will be forced to deal with the Queen of Hearts (Emma Rigby), who was the reason behind Alice losing Cyrus.

Although 'Wonderland' is a spinoff series off of ABC's 'Once Upon a Time,' the two shows will maintain separate identities, Entertainment Weekly reported. The first episode, however, will get its start in Storybrooke.

'Once Upon a Time in Wonderland' will premiere this fall on Thursdays on ABC.
