Krieg, the newest character added to Borderlands 2, is now available as a DLC package separate from the season pass DLC pack. The character, based off of the psycho enemies in the game, is available for $9.99 on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Krieg is a unique playable character, with emphasis on dealing melee damage with his action skill. While his action skill is activated, he is able to swing and throw his massive axe at enemies, and will regain his health completely when he kills an enemy with it. Krieg is also unique in that he damages himself in order to deal more damage to enemies. For example, one skill tree has Krieg set fire to himself, giving him a defensive boost and allowing him to eventually spit fireballs at any enemy that attacks him.  Another skill tree gives him the ability to recover his health while downed by running around throwing TNT at enemies, before self-destructing. This play style of high risk, high reward makes Krieg unquestionably unique from the other five characters available in the game, and will add new life to Borderlands 2. IGN has a preview video of the character in action.

Though Krieg has just been released, fans can expect even more DLC for the game soon. The next piece of Borderlands 2 DLC, Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, will become available June 25, and will be part of the season pass DLC option. This story DLC has the players going through a Dungeon & Dragons inspired area of Pandora. Screenshots for the DLC can be seen on MP1st.

Gearbox certainly is giving Borderlands 2 players many different options for DLC. Along with the four season pass DLC packs and the two character DLC packs, Gearbox released an optional DLC that increases the level cap of the game and adds a new rarity and difficulty setting for the game.
