'Grey's Anatomy' is gearing up for another explosive season finale this Thursday in the one hour episode entitled "Perfect Storm." In last week's episode fans witnessed Meredith's (Ellen Pompeo) scary trip down the stairs, leaving everyone worried about baby boy Shepherd-Grey.

Thankfully mom and baby were fine, but in typical 'Grey's' fashion, Mer went into labor just as the hospital prepared for a massive super storm to strike. Showrunner Shonda Rhimes gave TVLine this tidbit about what lies in store for Meredith, "It is probably the exact opposite of any situation that anybody would want to go into labor in, but it also works exactly how we want it to." Rhimes added that the storyline is "fairly intense" and that Pompeo "did beautiful work."

For the season finale, ABC teases, "Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital enters crisis mode as the storm rages, resources become scarce and patients flood in by the busload." In a promo for the episode, fans witness a bus overturning in the storm and a giant explosion.

Could the explosion be behind the next tidbit given by ABC? "Meanwhile, one of the doctors fights for their life." The promo shows one of the female doctors, who appears to be either April (Sarah Drew) or Jo (Camilla Luddington), screaming at the top of her lungs as she looks on at the explosion. Could something have happened to April's best friend and former lover Jackson (Jesse Williams) or perhaps Alex (Justin Chambers) is the one in danger?

Fans will so see the damage Lauren (guest star Hilarie Burton) has done to Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) and Callie's (Sara Ramirez) relationship. "I think [Calzona fans] absolutely should be worried," Rhimes told TVLine. As for the drama surrounding Jo's bruised face and boyfriend Dr. Jason Myers' (guest star Charles Michael Davis) trip to the hospital? TVLine hints that he may not be the cause of her injuries. "I think that everyone is assuming that they know what happened," Rhimes said. "And perhaps they don't."

'Grey's Anatomy' season 9 finale airs on Thursday, May 16 at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
