Last night's episode of "How I Met Your Mother" gave fans even further doubt of an actual Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Robin (Cobie Smulders) wedding. While Barney and Robin's father blew her off to play a game of laser tag, guess who showed up? Ted (Josh Radnor). He even gave up a job interview to come see her before the wedding, a true testament to his forbidden love.

Not only that, but a distraught Robin couldn't find her locket and took it as a sign that she and Barney weren't going to work. Then, in the final scene, Robin stands clutching Ted's hand in the rain, proving that her feelings for him may have resurfaced. What does this mean for Barney and Robin? Next week's season eight finale will have the answers.

The final episode, titled "Something New," follows the gang as they prepare to leave for the wedding, however the romance is quickly spoiled when Barney and Robin's relaxing night out is ruined by the "world's most annoying couple." And guess who may be part of that not-so-relaxing night?

"In case you were wondering, yes, the mother does come into play in the season finale," E! Online reports. Could she be part of the annoying couple that compromises the romantic night out? The couple will be played by Casey Wilson from "Happy Endings" and "Saturday Night Live" and Keegan-Michael Key from "Key & Peele" and "MADtv."

It's also been rumored that the finale will end on a major cliffhanger, which could mean that a Robin and Barney wedding could be put off for yet another season. Based on last night's episode, it looks like Robin is having serious doubts about her relationship with Barney, and the adoring love and affection she receives from Ted certainly doesn't help.

We know that Ted is still uncomfortable with their arrangement, and TV Guide reveals that Lily (Alyson Hannigan) catches on to his suppressed feelings. This can't be good for the gang's future. Could Ted publically confess his love for Robin once again? What if the season ended on that note, without a resolution? There's a cliffhanger for you.

The season eight finale of "How I Met Your Mother" will air Monday, May 13 on CBS.
