Earlier this week Rockstar began painting a mural of the box art for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 5. While the company also released the box art online, it was a unique way to show off the game's style and drum up interest in the game, which is set for a Sept. 17 release. Although the painting is still not complete at the time of this article, it has drawn lots of attention from fans, who seem to be excited about the artwork.

"GTA games have some of the best covers, this one is no exception" -Aerolite224

"As someone who's been studying graphic design for the past couple years, I can't help but get excited by this kind of stuff. Glad to see they're not ditching the trademark look." -MishoM

"One of the best in the series, its going up against San Andrea's box art, which is my favorite. Love the top three boxes, Michael on the jet ski, Franklin's face, and Trevor...the colors used are fantastic, really stands out like Vice City's box art. I give it 9/10."-Blur

However, not all of the reactions have been positive, as some are quick to point out that the mural still has some details that need to be put into the final product.

"That can't be finished...where the **** are the pupils in the eyes?"-Lewis Palin

"I think they forgot the beach girl's eyes"-Boy Smiler

The mural's location is 194 7th Ave S, New York, NY 10014, for anybody in the New York City area curious enough to look at the art in the flesh.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is one of the most anticipated games of the year, and naturally, this mural has drawn lots of attention, as have the other murals that Rockstar has commissioned for other Grand Theft Auto releases in the past. The game is expected to be out Sept. 17 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
