In a new video interview on GameTrailer's Rollin with Nolan, Atari founder Nolan Bushnell proclaimed that the next-gen Xbox shall become the most successful console of the next generation, citing Sony's alleged software weaknesses.

"I personally believe Microsoft is in a superior position, and the reason is Sony, whenever they change consoles, the software tools that they have are lame..."

In addition to the company's strong software, Bushnell believes Microsoft's strong online infrastructure will help them gain an additional advantage over rival Sony.

"Microsoft, because of their strong software tools, will end up with much better products sooner and easier, in my estimation...And with that, I think will be an advantage. And also don't forget, Microsoft actually has so much money to defend this. Plus, they have a good infrastructure with the (Xbox Live Arcade), with their online world."

These are strong words coming from Bushnell, especially after so many developers have come forward to praise the PlayStation 4. However, Bushnell is not alone, as American McGee has also stated his ambivalence towards the PlayStation 4. In any case, Bushnell remains steadfast in his believe that the American-made Xbox will have the advantage over the Japanese developed PlayStation 4 during this critical transitional time.

"A lot of times in the past they were in Japanese; not well documented and getting the software development community up to speed...they may have been able to do it in Japan, but the American software community just says 'Oh boy, what a pain.' And a lot of people don't realize how strong the software community is at making the hardware platform sing and dance."

The PlayStation 4 and next-gen consoles do not have release dates yet, but are expected to be out by the time the holidays come around. We shall see if Bushnell ends up eating his words or if he proves to be prophetic in time.
