The expanding wildfires in Colorado have prompted further evacuations in various areas and Reuters is now reporting that an additional 7,000 people were forced to move due to the approaching flames.

According to the media outlet, 12,000 people have been evacuated from areas close to the northwest of Colorado Springs in Waldo Canyon and by 10:00 p.m. EST, fires were reported to be one mile away from the U.S Air force Academy in the same city.

According to CNN, close to 6,200 acres of land have been burned by now and the fire continues to expand quickly as it is fueled by the winds.

More than 30,000 people, including the above mentioned 12,000, have already been evacuated from various areas in Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs and Woodland Park and according to the latest reports only 5 percent of it has been contained.

This "Waldo Canyon fire" started on Saturday, June 23, and has burned down various structures including the Colorado Springs Flying W Ranch landmark built back in 1953.

By the midnight of June 26, the fires expanded into Colorado Springs, CO.
