Justin Timberlake may play the role of Daddy Warbucks in the new "Annie"

The actor/singer is currently rumored to play the role alongside Academy Award Nominee Quvenzhane Wallis who will play Annie. Will Smith and Jay Z are currently producing the film with Will Gluck on board to direct.

Sony has already denied the rumor, but buzz has been rising especially after Timberlake's latest collaboration with the rapper Jay-Z on his new album. In addition, the actor also worked on Gluck's last movie "Friend with Benefits" which became a runaway hit in 2011.

Timberlake last worked on the 2011's "In Time" with Amanda Seyfried and Matt Bomer. He also starred alongside Clint Eastwood and Amy Adams in "Trouble with the Curve." Timberlake will next be seen in the Coen Brother's "Inside Llewyn Davies" with Carey Mulligan and Oscar Issacs. He will also be seen in "Runner Runner" with Ben Affleck, Anthony Mackie and Gemma Arterton.

Timberlake recently made his big comeback at the Grammy's where he performed his new hit "Suit and Tie" with Jay-Z. He also hit headlines when he announced that his next album "20/20" will not be released until 2015. He is currently on tour.

Wallis was last nominated for the Oscar for her big screen debut in "Beasts of the Southern Wild." The actress made history becoming the youngest Best Actress Nominee and was immediately cast in the upcoming Steve McQueen film "Twelve Years a Slave."

Smith last starred in "Men in Black 3" and will next be seen with his son Jaden Smith in M. Night Shyamalan's "After Earth." Jay Z last made an appearance on Saturday Night Live and is currently finishing up a documentary entitled "Jay-Z Made in America."

"Annie" will be released on December 25, 2014.
