Customers in Europe impatient to get their hands on the Samsung Galaxy S4 can now pre-order the 16 GB version of the phone from Amazon for €649.

The German language site for Amazon.com doesn't yet say when the Galaxy S4 will be released on the continent, but it will be available in the UK on Apr. 26, so it's very likely that the S4 will also hit the European market either shortly after that or on the same day.

Analysts speculate Samsung will be trying to roll out the S4 in as many markets as quickly as possible to capitalize on the excitement over the launch of its new flagship phone, particularly before arch-rival Apple can make nay important announcements about next iteration of the iPhone. Apple could announce an update as early as next month, so Samsung will want to have as many Galaxy S4s in customers' hands before the iPhone is available.

While it's the German Amazon site that has the S4 right now, it looks like it's an unlocked version, so it should be useable on any GSM network, prevalent in mainland Europe and the UK and in the U.S on some carriers like AT&T.

Amazon says the price is marked down from €699, which is the same as a leaked price from an Italian site. No word on pricing for the 32 GB or 64 GB versions of the S4 yet.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 features an eight-core Exynos 5 Octa processor, 2 GB of RAM, a 5-inch 1920x1080 Full HD AMOLED display at 441 ppi, a 13 megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p HD video, a 2 megapixel front facing camera, internal storage between 16 and 64 GB, an SD card slot that can accommodate an additional 64 GB, a polycarbonate body, Smart Pause and floating touch tech and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
