The Nokia Lumia 920 has won another mobile award for its innovation.

At the 2013 Mobile News Award, the Windows Phone 8 smartphone was awarded "Innovative Handset." The ceremony took place on Thurs., March 14, at the London Hilton on Park Lane with comedian Dara O'Briain serving as host.

The Mobile News Awards largely focuses on carriers and manufacturers than on specific devices. For example, U.K. carrier O2 won big from "Best Network Operator," "Advertising Campaign," and "Innovative Service" while Samsung won for "Best Manufacturer."

Microsoft's mobile platform and Nokia's smartphone only won one award - Innovative Handset, but one other device was singled out for "Innovative Product," the Samsung Galaxy Camera.

The Lumia 920's win comes almost a month after winning "Best Smartphone Camera" by Gizmodo, defeating competition against Apple's iPhone 5, Samsung's Galaxy S3, Google's Nexus 4, and the BlackBerry Z10.

"We tested each of the camera's abilities under a few of the most common situations, making sure each photo was taken in an equal, controlled environment, and taking care that the photos were taken from the same location, and with the same focal point," noted Gizmodo's Mario Aguilar and Nick Stango.

Engadget also awarded the Lumia 920, based on fans voting, as "Best Smartphone of 2012." The fan vote was an easy win for the Nokia flagship smartphone as it dominated in polling numbers.

Competing against the iPhone 5, Galaxy Note 2, LG Optimus G, HTC One X, Nexus 4, and fellow Windows Phone 8 smartphone - the HTC 8X, the Nokia device won with 43.7 percent of the vote. The iPhone 5 placed second with 13.4 percent.

In terms of exact votes, the Lumia 920 received 13,447 votes while the Apple smartphone received 4,135 votes. The Nexus 4 by Google landed in third place with 9.1 percent, or 2,795 votes.

As Latinos Post reported in early January, in Germany, the International Forum Design awarded the Lumia 920 the "iF Award for Outstanding Design." It also won best smartphone design in Denmark at the "Mobil Awards."

South Africa's Mybroadband awarded "Top Smartphone of the Year" to the Windows Phone 8 smartphone. In the U.S., The Next Web awarded the "Best Smartphone of 2012" to the Lumia 920, noting the camera specifications as a plus.
