Theo James has been cast in the role of Four in "Divergent."  

The 28-year-old actor will play the mysterious "Four," aka Tobias Eaton, the love interest of the story's heroine, Tris Prior played by Shailene Woodley. 

The news was announced by Summit Entertainment, which owns the rights to the popular YA novels that combines elements of "Harry Potter" and "The Hunger Games" in telling the tale of a post-apocalyptic Chicago and the five factions that rule over the remnants of humanity. Summit stated that "Theo is not only an incredibly talented actor, he is also who we envisioned as Four when reading Veronica's novel, which has taken the world by storm." They added "As we continue to develop the film, the studio remains committed to providing fans with a movie adaptation that stays as true to the book as possible, and we are confident that we have done so with our selection of Shailene and Theo in the leading roles."    

James is best known for his work on "Golden Boy" and Woody Allen's "You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger." He has also been seen in "Underworld: Awakening."  

Previous to James' casting, Alex Pettyfer (Magic Mike), Jeremy Irvine (War Horse) and Lucas Till (X-Men: First Class) were rumored for the role. 

Recently Maggie Q, Zoe Kravitz and Ansel Elgort joined the cast in the movie.The film is set to star Shailene Woodley as Tris, and Kate Winslet in an unknown role. The movie will be directed by Neil Burger and Douglas Wick, Lucy Fisher, and Pouya Shahbazian will produce. Production is set to start shooting this spring in Chicago."Divergent" will be released on March 21, 2014.
