The BioShock series has always featured great music, and Infinite seems like no exception. The composer on the first two games, Garry Schyman, is back for this third entry, but with a much different sound that's going to give Columbia a very distinct feel.
In a recent visit to Irrational, IGN was able to snag a few minutes with Creative Director Ken Levine and Schyman, who revealed three songs from the game. Levine has previously noted that the game will feature a much " different, sparer style," you can listen for yourself below. We've embedded the three tracks, so a very minor spoiler warning for the first hour or so of the game.
The first track they revealed, "God Only Knows," is featured when you first arrive in Columbia. IGN notes the anachronistic sound of the barbershop quartet, which almost feels like a 60s-era Beach Boys song. Give that a listen below.
The second piece is "Elizabeth's Theme," and sounds much more like the haunting BioShock score we're used to. Still, it manages to give the music a much more lofty and epic sound, very fitting for a city in the skies.
Lastly, Irrational shared an excerpt from "AD," which seems to be a more action-centric track. It's a really unique sound overall, featuring quite a few instruments that we've never before heard in a BioShock score. It has me very excited to see what the rest of Schyman's score sounds like.
BioShock Infinite will launch on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on March 26th. The soundtrack will be available in the Collector's Edition.
