Cristiano Ronaldo will play one of the most important matches of his career when Real Madrid takes on Manchester United in the second leg of the Champions league Round of 16 on Tuesday afternoon.

The superstar has repeated his excitement over returning home to play his former team. "It felt very good there, it was like a family. I had six great years there and am still friends with my team-mates," Ronaldo said a few months ago. "It is thanks to Manchester United that I am here playing for Real Madrid. Without them, I wouldn't be the player I am today." After scoring the tying goal in the first leg, Ronaldo added that "It was beautiful and emotional to play against my family (Manchester United)."

The star has shown he can become a tremendous presence in big games and he showed his mettle in the first leg. More recently he carried Madrid to a dominating 3-1 win over Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey semifinals. Former Manchester United Star David Beckham believes that Ronaldo will be huge in the second leg against Manchester United. 'When you go back, you enjoy the occasion, of course, and I am sure it will inspire Cristiano,' said Beckham. 'Many things inspire great players and him going back will be a special night for him...The fans love him and it will be a great occasion.'

Beckham did not indicate which team he felt had the upper hand however. "United did very well at the Bernabeu and I am sure they will do very well at Old Trafford," said Beckham."It will be a great game to watch. It is hard to say who will win. Two great teams with great players."

The game starts at 2:45 PM EST on Tuesday afternoon March 5.
