On Monday evening, it was announced that pop superstar Beyonce will headline this year's V Festival, an annual music festival held in England.  The multi-platinum singer will headline one of the nights across the county border in Essex in August.

American rock band Kings of Leon will also return to the V Festival during the weekend of Saturday, August 17 and Sunday, August 18.   Others confirmed on the bill for V2013 include Fun., Ellie Goulding, Paloma Faith, Rita Ora, Olly Murs, Jason Mraz, Kendrick Lamar, Labrinth, Maverick Sabre, Of Monsters and Men, DJ Fresh, James Arthur and Maximo Park.

The two-day music event is sponsored by Virgin Media and held at two parks simultaneously which share the same bill.  The artists perform at Hylands Park in Chelmsford on one day and then at Weston Park in South Staffordshire on the other.

Brit Award winner Emeli Sande, Welsh rockers Stereophonics and The Script are scheduled to appear, too, along with Scottish dance music supremo Calvin Harris, The Voice judge Jessie J and former Oasis front man Liam Gallagher's current band Beady Eye.

Although the music festival predominantly caters to rock fans, other genres of music became more acceptable over the years.  This year Indie bands Two Door Cinema Club, The Courteeners and The Vaccines will perform while dance music fans will be happy to see BasementJaxx.

Festival veterans James, Travis and Ocean Colour Scene have all been confirmed.

V Festival 2013 tickets go on general sale at  9 a.m. on Friday, March 1.
