Spoiler Alert.

On this week's Pretty Little Liars, Spencer is still despondent over Tony's betrayal and has been missing school. Aria corners her and tries to get her to open up, telling Spencer her friends still need her, but Spencer won't answer. She only really lights up when Wren surprises her at the coffee shop, wanting to talk about what happened between them earlier (she used him as an excuse to find Mona at the Decathalon).

Need to refresh on last week's episode? Read the recap here.

Wren admits that when he found out she had broken up with Toby, he thought he might have a chance but knows that it's probably too soon. In any case, Spencer and Wren end up going on a romantic date, and we see Spencer more relaxed than she has been in ages. She resists at first when Wren tries to kiss her goodnight, but then she kisses him back. We glimpse a mysterious figure watching them from the bushes as they kiss.

Meanwhile, Ezra reappears suddenly, and he and Aria have some things to work out in their relationship. Aria asks him why he barely called her while he was visiting his son and ex-girlfriend Maggie, and he says it's just because he didn't want to drag her into the middle of things, and that he needed time to think. He assures her that he loves her as much as ever, and apologizes for shutting her out. But all is not well; Aria still has not told him about her surprise kiss with his younger brother, Wes (who has left Aria's house without saying goodbye).

A few days later, Ezra's overbearing mother returns and meets alone with Aria. At first it seems like she wants to make peace with Aria, but she is really just trying to passive-aggressively drive Aria away by hinting that now that Ezra knows about his son, Aria will no longer be his first priority. Later on, Aria walks in on an argument between Ezra and his mother. His mother tells him that she was just trying to help him by paying off his ex-girlfriend and keeping his baby a secret all these years.

Ezra stands up to her and tells her he does not want her interfering in his life or in his relationship with Aria. Later that night, his ex-girlfriend Maggie calls Ezra in a panic and tells him that his mother is selling the condo she had bought for Maggie, as a way of getting back at Ezra. Throughout the episode, Aria stresses out about how Ezra's newly discovered child will affect their relationship.

Emily is also worried about her relationship with Paige. She, Paige, and Hanna visit the Rosewood costume shop to try to find out more about the Queen of Hearts costume 'A' wore on the Halloween train, and Emily is alarmed when she senses romantic tension between Paige and Shauna, a shop employee. She eventually confronts Paige about it, and Paige tells her that she and Shauna briefly dated last summer when she and Emily were apart, but that it's definitely over. Emily is relieved and things seem to be going smoothly again between them.

A little later, Emily visits CeCe at her apartment--only to find CeCe packing in a hurry. The girls had suspected that CeCe might be in league with Detective Wilden because they were in the photo together with Ali. But it turns out CeCe is just as afraid of Wilden as the Liars. She confesses to Emily that she thinks Wilden got Ali pregnant that summer, then killed her to keep it a secret. Emily asks who snapped the boat photo of CeCe, Wilden, and Ali, and CeCe drops a bombshell: Melissa Hastings.

Meanwhile, Detective Wilden confronts the girls about the conversation he had with Jason. Hanna admits that they know about the photo, and asks him what he was doing on a boat with Ali and CeCe. Wilden refuses to answer, and leaves saying threateningly, "See you around, Hanna." Soon, Ashley begins to suspect that something is up between Hanna and Wilden. Hanna tells her about the photo, Ashley dismisses it as idle gossip, and orders Hanna to stay away from him. Soon after, Wilden ambushes Ashley at a restaurant and tells her there's no truth to the accusations surrounding him and Ali. When Ashley gets in her car to drive home, Wilden follows behind, and pulls her over on a deserted stretch of highway.

He makes her get out of the car, and then tells her that if she doesn't keep Hanna quiet, he'll reveal one of her secrets--presumably the one involving the money she "borrowed" from her bank a few years back when she was struggling. And, he says "Either you shut Hanna up or I will." Ashley tries to drive away, but Wilden blocks her car, and in a panic, she drives straight into him. Back home, she tells Hanna she's afraid she might have killed him. She and Hanna return to the scene, but Wilden is nowhere to be found.

The scariest moment in the episode comes near the end. While Spencer indulges in a long steam shower, we notice a hooded figure that looks like Toby sneak past the bathroom. A few minutes later, the button controlling the steam temperature goes haywire, and Spencer discovers she has been locked inside the shower. The steam gets hotter and hotter as Spencer desperately tries to escape, but she can't break free. Then she sees a new message from A written on the mirror: "Steamy with Wren, steamy with me. -A." Luckily, Aria shows up and saves her. Spencer asks Aria to call the other girls, and says, "I know who's helping Mona." Guess we'll have to wait until next week for Spencer to tell them about Toby!
