An enormous winter storm, dubbed "Nemo" by the Weather Channel, is expected to hit the Northeast, bringing with it several inches of snow as well as strong gusts of wind and near white out driving conditions. As New England, the New York metro area and Long Island brace themselves for the storm, Latinos Post has rounded up some tips to prepare ahead of the incoming snow.

The storm is projected to drop nearly two feet of snow in New England and about a foot and a half of snow in the Tri-state area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut). The National Weather Service in those areas has instated blizzard warnings. The storm is expected to pummel the Northeast and drop the heaviest snowfall Friday evening moving into Saturday morning.

Here are some tips to prepare for the coming of Nemo:

Stock Up: You won't be sure how long you'll be stuck at home and when driving conditions will improve, so it's best to stock up on food and other necessities ahead of the storm. Newsday recommends stocking up on: bottles of distilled water, flashlights, batteries, candles and matches, wood and other heating fuel, nonperishables, rock salt, shovels and even some beer, wine or spirits.

Full Charge: You may not know if your power will go out, but instead of risking it, be sure to charge up cell phones, computers, tablets and anything electronic that may come in handy. You might even want to invest in a battery-powered charger for your phone. You might want to consider filling up you car tank, you'll be able to charge your phone there too.

Food, Food and More Food: We've already recommended stocking up on some nonperishables, but you might also want to purchase some food that will keep you warm, such as soups or stews. Newsday recommends buying foods that can last as room temperature outside of your fridge. And with temperatures hitting pretty low, your garage or even porch can be a great place to keep things cool. Purchasing or cleaning out your summer cooler will keep food safe from the weather as well.

Get Ready For Some Old-Fashioned Fun: Been dying to read a new book or play some board games with your roommates, friends or family? Well this is the time to do it. It'll be good to power down and pick up a book for a change. Stock up on a couple of good books and other reading material, including those guilty-pleasure gossip magazines, to get you through the weekend. This stormy weekend is also a great time to bring down your favorite board game or other fun activities to keep busy.
