The countdown to when ABC anchor Robin Roberts will make a permanent return to "Good Morning America" has started!

On Thursday morning, "GMA" co-host George Stephanopoulos announced that Roberts will make her comeback on February 20, exactly five months after she took a medical leave of absence to treat myelodysplastic syndrome, a rare blood disorder. "She's met with her doctors, they've cleared her to come back to the show," proclaimed Stephanopoulos excitedly. The 52-year-old news anchor had a successful bone-marrow transplant in September of last year.

"A lot of people are very, very happy for you," Stephanopoulos added before jumping to video footable of celebrities like Denzel Washington, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lopez congratulating her comeback.

"What a difference a year makes," Roberts said. "I cannot wait to return to my GMA family. It's going to be an incredible morning in Times Square. The overwhelming thoughts and prayers of the viewers have played a major part in getting me here today. I cannot thank everyone enough."

On Twitter she wrote about her comeback tweeting: "Can't wait to be back Feb 20th to thank everyone for their prayers & support. Heading to the beach to rest, reflect & count my blessings. XO"

Roberts underwent "dry runs" at the studio to see if she can handle the stresses of being on the air. "GMA" weather anchor Sam Champion explained to viewers that she will initially be back on the show only a fews days a week. However, her schedule will progressively allow her to appear on "GMA" five days a week.
