Dead Space 3 will have 11 bits of the day one DLC available from day one, which offers players upgrades and perks from the start.

Using microtransactions, players will be able to buy upgrades for the Dead Space 3 scavenger system that you use in the game to salvage weapon parts throughout the campaign, in order to upgrade your weapon through the crafting system, reports IGN.

The Scavenger bot is an autonomous robot that harvests resources for you and delivers them to the Tool Construction bench. According to the Dead Space blog, these resources are important to the game play and upgradeability in Dead Space 3.

"As a replacement for DS2's credits, resources are a key part of the Dead Space 3 experience, and their placement in the game has been well thought out by our game designers," said Dead Space 3's Steve Papoutsis. "Whether by looting enemies, opening lockers, or exploring the world, you'll find more than enough resources in-game to fully experience DS3 on any difficulty level."

"The scavenger bot's purpose is to give you an extra edge, since there's a bit of game play (and risk/reward) to using him and finding the richest resource caches. You can also choose to download upgrades to the scavenger bot that double his capacity or speed up his trips to the bench," said Papoutsis.

Those upgrades will cost $4.99 a piece: one increases the amount your bot can carry, another speeds up its pace, and a final one will strengthen its personality. Other upgrades include weapons and suits for Isaac, and will cost anywhere between $0.99 to $4.99 a piece.

Dead Space 3 will be released next week on Tuesday, February 5.
