Be honest.

There's a good chance you're not using an Internet Explorer (IE) browser as you read this, however, IE is still as popular overall.

Microsoft has debut the new IE 10 with the Windows 8 operating system, but unfortunately, despite selling 60 million licenses of the new operating system, it appears the use of the new IE browser isn't making a dent in the browser market share.

According to Net Market Share, despite IE 10 not being used much, the browser, regardless of number, is king.

Net Market Share broke down the desktop browser versions most commonly used and three IE versions are listed. IE 8.0 wins with 23.29 percent, IE 9.0 is next with 21.35 percent, while in fifth place is IE 6.0 with 6.52 percent.

Overall, 54.77 percent of desktop browsers are IE.

Google's Chrome version 23.0 was in third place with 15.42 percent while Mozilla Firefox 17 landed fourth with 10.74 percent.

Overall, Chrome and Firefox battled for the second most used browser on desktops. Firefox beat out Google's browser with 19.82 percent to 18.04 percent.

Apple's Safari's was in fourth place with 5.24 percent. The good news for Apple, however, it is dominant the mobile and tablet browser market with 60.56 percent, beating the Android browser (22.1 percent).
