Specs for the Sony Xperia Tablet Z have leaked recently, and it looks to be thinner than Apple's iPad Mini and waterproof.

Most attention recently has gone to Sony's Xperia Z smartphone, which got 44 percent of all social media mentions of the top five gadgets during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this year. The biggest reason for so much attention is probably the fact that Sony has designed the Xperia to be so waterproof that it survived (and kept running!) even during this dramatic dunk test.

The rumored specs of Sony's new tablet version of the Xperia leaked recently, and it looks like the Xperia Tablet Z is going to be making a splash as well.

If rumors reported on Engadget are true, the Xperia Tablet Z will boast a Qualcomm 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor with a boost from 2GB of RAM. The display will be 10.1 inches with 1080p resolution (that's full high definition) and will have an 8.1-megapixel camera, 32 GB of storage (with SD card expansion available) and a (slightly wimpy) 6,000 mAh battery to power it. It'll be running Android Jelly Bean 4.1 and have LTE capability.

The coolest things about the Xperia Tablet Z are not to be found in the rather standard specifications above, but rather in the size and construction of the thing. It is rumored to be only 6.9 millimeters thick, which is thinner than an Apple iPad mini while sporting a display screen that is about two inches larger. And, much like the Xperia Z handset video above, according to Forbes, the Xperia Tablet Z looks like it will be so water resistant that we might as well call it waterproof for all practical purposes.
