The hit Telemundo series "Pablo Escobar: Patron Del Mal" will finally reach its grand finale next Thursday Jan. 24.

The telenovela has been a hit around the world and has featured mightily in Telemundo's primetime success since its summer 2012 premiere. The series has chronicled the rise and fall of the world's most notorious drug trafficker beginning with his early childhood and ending at his death. Telemundo has aired 128 episodes, many of them in 30 minute segments (including commercials) from 10 PM to 10:30 on weekdays. The Colombian version of the show aired 113 episodes and was broadcast from May 28, 2012 until November 19, 2012.

The series has shared its 10 o'clock hour with the thriller "El Rostro De La Venganza" and it is still unknown whether or not "Rostro" takes over the complete hour or another soap opera takes over the 30 minute slot that Escobar will leave vacant.

Telemundo has already started promoting another series called "El Señor del los Cielos." Like Escobar, this telenovela will also be based on real life events and will detail the life of Aurelio Casillas, one of the most powerful drug cartel leaders in Mexican history. Casillas became notorious throughout the 90s and even underwent a high-risk surgery to change his appearance in order to avoid authorities. The title role will be played by noted actor Rafael Amaya. There are speculations that "Señor" will likely replace Escobar and share the hour with "Rostro." However, it is also possible that Telemundo gives "Rostro" the full hour slot and then replaces it with "Señor" once it is finished.
