Irene Sofia Esser Quintero rose to fame for being the most beautiful woman in Venezuela, but her celebrity status truly broke out for the wrong reasons during the Miss Universe competition in 2012.
During the competition Esser was asked a question regarding what law she would change and her response in English proved incomprehensible to almost everyone. In a later interview, the beauty queen clarified her response and also mentioned that one person congratulated her on her determination and courage: Donald Trump.
It seems that Trump was so impressed with Esser that he is now interested in having her model for his agency Trump Models. According to Venezuela publication Nueva Prensa, Esser was offered the position immediately after the competition. She went to her native country for the holidays, but immediately packed her bags to return to New York in order to start her career with the noted agency.
Quintero was born in Puerto Ordaz in Venezuela and was crowned Miss Venezuela in 2011. Her infamous answer during the 2012 contest was: "I think that any leys(laws in Spanish) there are in Constitution or in life, are already made. I think that we should have, uh, a straight way to go in our similar, or, eh, in our lives as is this. For example, I'm a surfer, and I think that the best wave that I can take is the wave that I wait for it. So please do our only, eh, law that we can do. Thank you Vegas!"
She later clarified her statement and added, "What I meant to say is that everyone has the right to choose what to do with our lives. There are constitutions and laws that tell us what to do. We should do what the law says but by following our own way."
