Nokia Lumia 920 Release Date in India for Mid-January; Windows Phone 8 Device Wins Best Smartphone Awards

The Nokia Lumia 920 has sold out in China's Shanghai flagship store, twice, and now plans to launch in India this month.

A couple of reports have stated the Lumia 920 will launch in India on or shortly after Jan. 15. According to Tech2, the Windows Phone 8 smartphone will launch could be release after Jan. 15 depending on Nokia but should be available across the country from Jan. 17.

BGR reported that Nokia Priority Retailer in South Delhi claimed the Lumia 920 will be available to customers who have preordered the device by Jan. 14

Nokia has not provided a specific date yet or prices.

As Latinos Post previously reported, the Lumia 920 will have nine different frequency bands when it comes to the Long Term Evolution, or LTE coverage. According to Nokia India, the nine LTE bands include LTE 700, 800, 850, 900, 1700, 1800, 1900, 2100, and 2600.

Meanwhile, the Nokia smartphone has been winning awards across several countries in four continents.

As Conversations by Nokia noted, the Lumia 920 has won "The Best Mobile Phone of 2012" award by the readers of Gizmodo in Australia with 49 percent of the vote, beating the iPhone 5, which received only 13.5 percent of the vote.

In Germany, the International Forum Design award the Lumia 920 the "iF Award for Outstanding Design." It also won best smartphone design in Denmark at the Mobil Awards.

South Africa's Mybroadband award "Top Smartphone of the Year" to the Windows Phone 8 smartphone. In the U.S., The Next Web awarded the "Best Smartphone of 2012" to the Lumia 920, noting the camera specifications as a plus.
