While Samsung's Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 smartphones have become the new flagship foundations for the company, the South Korean electronics manufacturer hasn't forgotten about its older devices. Samsung has now confirmed a Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and Premium Suite upgrade for the original Galaxy Note.
A new webpage for the Galaxy Note (thanks to EnGadget) shows off new features that will be included in the upgrade from Jelly Bean and Premium Suite. The Galaxy Note was expected to receive Jelly Bean, but an official webpage is always better than a Facebook posting.
No estimated release dates were given, so there's no telling when this upgrade will roll out. Still, given the fact that Samsung seems to have put up a webpage, it might not be too far. Galaxy Notes tied to carriers will have to wait extra since carriers always end up taking long approving and distributing any Android upgrades.
The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean part of the upgrade introduces Google Now, Google's own powerful voice assistant, and Project Butter, which will improve the fluidity and performance of Android with higher frame rates and better systems allocations processes.
The Premium Suite upgrade is also packed with great features such as Multi Window, which will allow users to run two apps at the same time on the Galaxy Note. The screen simply becomes divided among the apps, meaning you can check your email and browse some YouTube at the same time. Premium Suite also includes pop-up notes, improved photo features, and the fun-to-play-with Paper Artist app also found on the Galaxy Note 2.
