Celebrities and makeup artists often rely on EOS lip balm to rescue their dry lips, but a recent lawsuit against the famous lip product might affect its reputation.

According to CNBC, a woman named Rachel Cronin filed a case against the famous lip balm. She claimed that her lips broke out in blisters and rashes when she reapplied the lip product.

The case that was filed on January 12 was against the "Summer Fruit" version of the lip company. Cronin claimed that after applying the lip balm, her lips became dry and coarse. The complainant said that she then reapplied the lip balm and her lips began cracking on the edge by the next day.

In the lawsuit, Cronin said that she sought medical care on December 7 and her condition lasted for approximately 10 days. The complaint demanded for damages and claimed that the company misrepresented their product and deceived their customers.

The company stated that their EOS lip balms are 99% natural, gluten free and organic. EOS also responded to the lawsuit, saying that the health and wellbeing of their customers are their top priority.

"Our products are safe to use, are made with the highest quality ingredients and they all meet or exceed all safety and quality standards set out by our industry. An independent laboratory puts each of our products through a battery of rigorous testing to ensure this is the case. For these reasons, we firmly believe this lawsuit is without merit, and we will continue to create new and exciting products that delight our customers," the statement read.

However, dermatologists say that even products that are organic and gluten-free can still cause irritation and allergic reactions.

EOS products have been widely used and advertised by many famous celebrities. MTV News released a list of celebrities who are fans of the product. The list included Kim Kardashian, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Nicole Scherzinger, Gwen Stefani, Julianne Hough, Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera and Kylie Jenner.

Meanwhile, EOS believes that the lawsuit filed by Cronin is without merit. The company continues to insist that their products are made with top-grade ingredients and go through strict process.

"The health and wellbeing of our customers is our top priority, and millions of satisfied customers use our products every day, many of whom take the time to share their experiences with us," said the company.
