“Gran Hermano US” officially begins on Jan. 10, 2016 at 8 p.m. It is the first version of reality series “Big Brother,” made particularly for Hispanics in the United States.

“We are pleased to add yet another truly global hit franchise to Telemundo’s reality lineup,” Telemundo president Luis Silberwasser said in a BroadcastingCable report. “Our viewers are passionate and engaged with reality entertainment programming, and with Gran Hermano our partners at Endemol Shine North America have provided us with an addictive new series whose cast will fully represent the changing face of America."

Telemundo announced earlier in 2015 that it will add “Gran Hermano” to its slate of programmes. The Spanish-language reality show will introduce 14 strangers who have to live together inside a house without leaving. There will be cameras and microphones recording the housemates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They have to interact with each other, as well as accomplish certain tasks. The participants will also vote each other out of the house until only one remains, who will be deemed the grand winner, BroadcastingCable explained.

Endemol Shine Latino will serve as the show producer. “Gran Hermano” will have a U.S. Hispanic cast and will air for 13 weeks. The show will also feature a digital hub at Telemundo.com so that viewers can check the housemates any time of the day. Chris Abrego and Charlie Crown, co-chairmen of Endemol Shine North America, added that the series will continue to resonate among television audiences around the globe. Their team developed an exciting new version, which they believe will appeal to the Spanish-language viewers in the United States.

BroadwayWorld revealed the Giselle Blondet will host the show and introduce the 14 participants, consisting of seven men and seven women. There will be over 40 cameras and 90 microphones to record all scenes and conversations throughout their stay. The participants will be fully shut out from the outside world and will not be allowed to use cellular phones, television and other devices to communicate with loved ones. The social experiment will delve into the various emotions and inevitable disputes that will be shown by the guests in the next 13 weeks.

There will also be related shows that will provide updates and key reviews on the events surrounding “Gran Hermano.” “Gala de Expulsion” will have Blondet review the best moments of the week on “Gran Hermano” as well as announce who gets evicted from the house. “Nominaciones” will have the host review the weekly highlights, specifically the nominated housemates. “Gran Hermano: La Novela” is a daily show that summarizes key moments inside the house, based on the same BroadcastingCable report.
