John Cena is back, and he will re-emerge at WWE Raw next Monday.

Such was announced by the WWE via its official Twitter account, a welcome development considering the sagging fortunes of the company in the ratings department.

John Cena seems to have wrapped up his hosting gig for the reality TV show “American Grit”, the reason why he had to temporarily go on leave after WWE Hell in a Cell, as per Bleacher Report.

Cena’s plan to take some time off was a much-talked about topic before the said pay-per-view with no idea on who would succeed him as United States champion.

The eventual successor was Alberto Del Rio, a surprise returnee considering there were no previous hints that the Hispanic star was even close to making a return in the WWE scene. Del Rio returned with Zeb Colter by his side but things have since changed.

Del Rio is now part of the “League of Nations”, a stable led by recently dethroned Sheamus and technically backed by “The Authority”.

Cena’s scheduled return will, however, serve more as an announcement that he is back in harness and will not immediately be for the US title. It is seen as the building block towards the much-awaited rematch and from the looks of it, that will happen at the WWE Royal Rumble.

With his return, Roman Reigns may finally get help in wooing back the fans. Reigns had finally copped the grandest prize of them all (the WWE heavyweight title) but it is apparent that Reigns’ efforts alone may not be enough to keep the WWE’s head above water.

It is likely that Cena will be starting a new feud, probably picking up from Jack Swagger who seems to be recently filling in.

The question here is whether that run would somehow be tied up to the “League of Nations” storyline with the Big Dog. Moreover, it probably douses the rumor earlier this week that Brock Lesnar would be feuding with the stable.

Lesnar took on Del Rio at a live event held at The Forum in Los Angeles with Rusev getting involved. However, with the return of Cena, it doesn’t seem like something will go beyond that unless it would involve all three stars.

However, an article over at the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review may have scratched that angle as well with word that Lesnar will start his much-rumored feud with the Wyatt Family.
