LG G5, LG V10 Confirmed to Come Out Next Year? [Release Date, Specs, Features & Rumors]

LG is rumored to be shaking up things a bit where its flagship smartphone lineup is concerned. The South Korean tech firms is said to be ditching the G Flex and focusing on releasing the G5 and V10 next year, insiders revealed.

"The report claims that LG is unlikely to continue the G Flex smartphone in 2016," Digital Trends said. "The G Flex 2 did not achieve the same success as the original, forcing LG to jump off the flexible bandwagon, for now."

To counter the absence of the G Flex, the G5 and V10 will be launched next year, with the G5 seeing an April release, while the V10's new iteration reportedly slated for a launch in the second half of 2016.

"G5 rumors have been circulating for a few months, and include a 5.6-inch display, Snapdragon 820 processor, 21-megapixel camera, and retina scanning," the tech news source noted. "The April launch should give the South Korean electronics giant enough time to prepare for the global launch of LG Pay, its own payments service."

It can be recalled that the G4 was unveiled April 28 this year. As such, it is likely that its successor will also be revealed at around the same time next year.

"The LG G5 might turn out to be a metal device that comes with Qualcomm's promising Snapdragon 820 chipset paired with the Adreno 530 GPU, a 5.6-inch Quad HD display (a smidgen bigger than LG G4's 5.5-inch screen), as well as a 21MP camera at the back and a 8MP one up front for your selfie needs," Phone Arena speculated.

The rumored eye scanner feature has got observers buzzing as no other handset has this function just yet. If indeed the G5 has an eye scanner, it could be "one of the most secure smartphones ever released," Alphr observed. And probably one of the most innovative, too.

Information about the next V10, however, is scarce, even zero. This is not surprising considering the handset was just announced last month and is even not yet available in certain areas. It's been speculated, though, that its successor may still have a dual screen and, hopefully, improved features.

The G Flex is not the only smartphone line LG is scrapping. It had already nixed the G Pro range this year, which may signal an end to the 6-month release cycle for flagship products. However, considering LG recently released the V10, it appears we can expect the company to churn out a new device every 6 months.
