For those who watched WWE TLC, it was something that barely had anything going for it.

Except perhaps for Dean Ambrose becoming the new WWE Intercontinental champion at the expense of Kevin Owens, there were hardly any matches that deserved lauding. That includes the main event that pitted WWE champion Sheamus and Roman Reigns.

The cat was already out of the bag that Sheamus would retain the title but it would certainly not come clean. Such did happen with the “League of Nations” expectedly sticking their nose in the match, as reported via The Independent.

Reigns lost yet again, but this time, the Big Dog just lost it. He snapped and punished Sheamus wildly,  which required WWE COO Triple H and Stephanie McMahon coming out to try and reason with him.

For his troubles, Triple H was punished too, and before the night ended, Reigns’ career seemed to be in limbo. Surely the Authority will be back and make sure that Reigns pays for his actions, and such is something that is expected to happen at WWE RAW.

Stephanie McMahon came out and confronted Reigns. However, the punishment that everyone was waiting for was not dealt by her but surprisingly, by the WWE Chairman himself, Vince McMahon.

The punishment?

He must win over Sheamus to keep his job. That also meant he needed to become the WWE champion before the night was over.

Somehow you get the feeling that it was more of a privilege than a punishment but just the same, Reigns is not the type to complain. After practically throwing in everything including the kitchen sink, what would the Big Dog have to lose?

Despite a grueling match the night prior, Reigns has been known to compete through adversity. So he did.

It was practically the same setting at WWE Raw, only that there was someone closely monitoring the action from ringside. Reigns needed to muster the same amount of energy he had at WWE TLC and fend off the League of Nations and Vince McMahon to keep his job and finally cop the ultimate prize he has been longing to get.

Reigns took in what the League of Nations had to give, landed his patented “Superman Punch” on the WWE CEO and survived Sheamus’ patented “Brogue Kick”.

In the end, Reigns’ patented spear finished off Sheamus, and the Big Dog finally got his hands on the ultimate prize.

It was one of those rare moments where you would see the WWE title change hands on a WWE show though it seemed that there was no reason to prolong the wait with the odds stacked up against Reigns.

The Reigns era has indeed begun though one has to wonder what the Authority has up its sleeve next.

As JBL said on commentary: “Roman Reigns may have the title but Roman Reigns has something else… Roman Reigns has got total hell to pay for what he has done”.

Would this tweet by Triple H after WWE TLC have any bearing?
