The Nintendo Wii and Wii U will still be hanging around, with the gaming company still preferring to keep valued information and updates on the much talked-about gaming console known as the Nintendo NX.
There is widespread belief that Nintendo will soon release the rumored gaming console, something that will be entirely different from their current offering in the Wii and Wii U.
Nintendo has long been in the gaming sector, and while they seem to have been sputtering a bit against Microsoft's Xbox One and Sony's Playstation 4, the rankings could change in 2016 if the Nintendo NX does turn out to be something worth checking out.
One thing certain for now is that the company will still render support for the Wii U. Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishina made clear via Time.com that while the Nintendo NX is indeed the next step for the company's dedicated device strategy, there are no plans to discontinue the Wii U for now.
The statement is believed to be something in line with the transition to the new gaming console, working on the logical belief that they cannot force customers to move on to the next thing (which is the Nintendo NX).
For now, it remains to be seen when Nintendo plans to introduce the said device to the market, and most of the information coming around are originating from analysts and the rumor mill.
Perhaps the most important facet of it all is how much Nintendo plans to price the said device, with due consideration of the price cuts that Microsoft and Sony have done lately for their devices in an effort to tilt the market.
According to Wedbush Securities' Michael Pachter via the Wii U Daily, the possible pricing standpoint for the Nintendo NX could very well walk along the lines of about $300, which he based on the current market conditions surrounding the gaming console niche.
He adds that anything beyond that could be detrimental to the company, although room for the potential features (and freebies) could possibly be justified by that time.
The only thing sure right now is that the Nintendo NX will not be similar to the Wii or Wii U, and that it will be indeed something different,as per Kimishima.
"It's something unique and different. It's something where we have to move away from those platforms in order to make it something that will appeal to our consumer base."
With 2015 coming to a close, more details and factual information will hopefully come out in the coming months, especially with no hint of when the highly touted Nintendo NX console will officially hit the market.
