There are rumors that Apple is preparing to unveil an improved MacBook Air at Worldwide Developers Conference 2016. The new device might release in the third quarter of 2016.

Economic Daily News, a Taiwanese website, revealed that Apple may be preparing to feature an enhanced MacBook Air, which will have a slimmer design, as well as two screen variants – 13 inches and 15 inches. It is still uncertain whether there will be an 11-inch display. The thinner model will be made by fully redesigning several internal components of the laptop. Apple is allegedly working with suppliers to develop the new components that will fit into the smaller body.

Earlier in 2015, Apple launched a new MacBook, which also had a slim design and a 12-inch Retina display. The device operated on a fanless Intel chip which consumed minimal power. There previous rumors that the MacBook Air might be discontinued by the company to focus more on the MacBook. However, the new report will hopefully renew the interest of users on the thinner laptop. Times of India wrote that Apple may have delayed the launch of the new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air 2016, to avoid cannibalizing sales of the recently launched iPad Pro tablet.

If the device will indeed launch in 2016, Apple will have a wide array of notebooks to offer people. The 12-inch MacBook will be ideal for users on the go, the upcoming MacBook Air would cater to those looking for a bigger screen in a slimmer design while the MacBook Pro will be good for power users, MacRumors wrote. There are also claims that Apple is planning to fully overhaul its MacBook Pro to develop a 15-inch device. The 11-inch MacBook Air might be dropped. Users expect the new MacBook Air 2016 to feature an Intel Skylake-U processor and El Capitan OS, among other things.

Previously, users thought that Apple would upgrade the MacBook Air 2015 to feature a Retina display. However, when the laptop launched in March, there was no Retina display. The company provided a new line of MacBook with a super-thin and ultralight design with a high-resolution display. The MacBook Air 2016 is said to be pricier than the current 11-inch model. It may also have upgrades in its RAM and graphics. The new laptop may finally feature a Retina display, as well as USB Type-C support, MacWorld UK reported.

More updates and details on the new MacBook 2016 are expected soon.
