“Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens” is set to release on Dec. 18, 2015. Fans are already excited about the new characters. They might also be interested on how Gwendoline Christie, how portrays the villain, Captain Phasma, landed her role in the film.

“I heard that they were going to make a new Star Wars film, and I was like a dog with a bone. I would not let it rest.” said Christie, who plays Brienne of Tarth in “Game of Thrones” on HBO.

She added that her agent was suggesting a number of other roles and meetings, but she just kept saying that she wanted to be in “Star Wars.” It reached a point where every possible email she received would have her reply that she wanted a role in “Star Wars.” She might have worn down a number of people, leading to a call to the casting director, TIME reported.

Vanity Fair also had an exclusive photo shoot with the six-foot-three blonde actress. Giles Deacon designed a gown with printed images of her character in “Star Wars,” the chrome-armored Captain Phasma. The gown was created in a project between Bloomdale’s and Force 4 Fashion. Her gown, as well as other items, will be auctioned for charity, starting Dec. 2, 2015. The gown will be displayed at Bloomingdale’s flagship store in New York City prior to the auction. The photographer for the special shoot was John Akehurst.

Christie said that she admired that the design of Captain Phasma’s costume was inventively worked into the design of the dress. The dress was long with flowing lines. It had black and chrome tones and long sleeves. Deacon told Vanity Fair that the objective was to create a beautiful and feminine dress that stands out, instead of copying the original model.

During the shoot, the actress also did a lot of leg lifts and power stances, sometimes involving the actual gun used by Captain Phasma in the new film.

“[I] adored that so much drama could be created with just one move-much like Captain Phasma!” Christie said.

In the upcoming movie, Captain Phasma is the commander of the First Order’s legion of troopers, StarWars stated. Cinema Blend wrote that before “Episode VII,” Phasma was never mentioned and little about the character is known, except for short appearances in the trailers. The chrome Stormtrooper is also the commanding officer to Finn (John Boyega).

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will launch in theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
