When the Nokia brand comes to mind, the immediate belief that any device coming out from therein will usually be running on a Windows Mobile OS. So that means, any new device that could come out from here on would likely be on a Windows 10.

But the case could be different by the fourth quarter of 2016 when the deal involving Nokia and Microsoft comes to a close. This means that by that time, somewhere in October, Nokia will be back in the smartphone business and will have the freedom to use any operating system it wishes.

All plans for the re-entry of Nokia to the smartphone segment came out back in June when Nokia CEO Rajeev Suri confirmed that the company will be back to re-designing phones though that will come via the brand-licensing route.

So would that include a shift from Windows Mobile to Android? Well right now all we have to come by are renders and here are some concepts tied to a possible coming of the Nokia C1.

If so, the Nokia C1 could follow in the footsteps of a highly celebrated Nokia N1, the company’s first Android tablet that from the company that made its debut on January 7 of this year.

Since that, there were many who believed that a mobile phone from the Finnish company could follow next though all that has not happened due to its agreement with Microsoft. But once the Q4 of 2016 comes around, the story could be entirely different.

From there, the time the Nokia N1 came out in the open followed belief that the mobile phone version would be in the form of an alleged Nokia C1.

The concept device came out about the same time the Nokia N1 gathered steam on December of last year and has since been debunked.

And now we are getting new renders of the Nokia C1, which runs with on Android in the foreground but Windows 10 Mobile in the background.

According to the tipster as reported by GSM Arena, there will be two versions of the Nokia C1 with each running on different operating systems.

This is where things seem to have gotten a bit out of hand with the device running on an Android OS being more credible while the Windows OS a bit off key considering that no one from the Nokia umbrella ever mentioned making a Windows phone.

As far as Nokia’s return to the smartphone segment is concerned it will happen. But on whether that would be tied up as the Nokia C1 is something that remains to be seen.
