Neill Blomkamp's "Alien 5," which has been indefinitely delayed, would be bringing back Newt, according to actor Michael Biehn, who also said that the revived Newt will be an older version.

According to IGN, Biehn, who played iconic character colonial marine Corporal Dwayne Hicks in the 1986 classic "Aliens," revealed to Icons of Fright details about "Alien 5." Biehn said audiences could see the return of his character, Sigourney Weaver's, as well as Newt, in order to bolster the franchise.

"They're planning on bringing me and Newt back, and at this point Newt will be around twenty-seven years old. I know that every actress in Hollywood is going to want to play this one, it's really a passing of the torch between Sigourney and this younger actress who would play Newt," Biehn said.

"It would keep the franchise alive and the studios would make money, because that's what the bottom line is now: money," he added.

Rebecca "Newt" Jorden, the only survivor of the colony on LV-426, was portrayed by child actress Carrie Henn. Following the role, Henn retired from acting to pursue a career in teaching, after which the character Newt had been abruptly terminated in David Fincher's "Alien 3."

Apparently, Biehn sees the delay as a product of studio politics. He also opened up to Icons of Fright  about this.

"I know Ridley Scott is doing his movie first and is going to be the executive producer on this one, so I'm really looking forward to that. I know that Ridley's focus is on the second Prometheus and I'm sure that he and Fox both don't want that and Neill's movie to come out right next to each other," he said, referencing Ridley Scott's "Alien: Covenant," which was previously known as "Promethus 2."

Last month, the news on "Alien 5" revealed that the project of 20th Century Fox to get Neill Blomkamp's proposed venture into the big screen and into their "Alien" universe was placed on hold. This was reportedly due to the impending release of the prequel "Alien: Covenant," helmed by Ridley Scott, according to Comingsoon.net.

The film is set to begin production in Australia and is slated for theater release on October 6, 2017.

There has been suggestions from Scott that he wants additional sequels for "Alien: Covenant." If true, then Blomkamp's "Alien 5" project would undoubtedly be delayed once again.

Despite lack of assurances, Biehn, remains hopeful, saying that it would be of everyone's best interests if "Alien 5" were to come into fruition,
