There are talks that the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 2016 may not release anytime soon. Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that the iPad Pro will replace desktops and notebooks for several users.

Venture Capital Post previously cited that there were rumors that the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 2016 will launch in November 2016 or before the year ends. Other people expected that the new Apple laptops will be available for Black Friday, together with the new OS X El Capitan.

However, with the recent release of the iPad Pro on Nov. 11, 2015, many users speculate that Apple might delay the launch of the MacBook Air and Pro 2016, to maximize the sales of their latest tablet. According to Cook, the iPad Pro is the company’s most powerful tablet yet, which can potentially replace personal computers. He shared how tablets are gradually moving into the PC market and serving as a better alternative to bulky computers.

“Yes, the iPad Pro is a replacement for a notebook or a desktop for many, many people. They will start using it and conclude they no longer need to use anything else, other than their phones,” said the CEO. He added that the iPad Pro will greatly appeal to creative individuals, especially due to its stylus, the Apple Pencil.

As for the specifications, the MacBook Air 2016 is said to feature 13-inch and 15-inch displays. It will also have an Intel Skylake-U processor, longer battery life, the new OS X El Capitan, a Type-C USB port and Force Touch technology. It may have almost the same specifications and features as the MacBook Pro 2016, but with more RAM. The MacBook Air 2016 will reportedly be thinner. Apple has yet to confirm the details. People expect an announcement early in 2016.

Christian Post stated that the MacBook Pro 2016 will also come with a 13-inch and 15-inch variant. The desktop is said to run on the latest Intel Skylake-U chipset, OS X El Capitan and an improved battery. It will also have Force Touch and a USB Type-C port. The 15-inch model is said to cost $1,699.

According to Master Herald, one other possible cause for the launch delay was that Intel’s Skylake processors will not enter mass production until November or December 2015. The retail prices of the current-generation MacBooks have recently been reduced, which can signal the coming of next-generation models. There was also a new Mac code known as AAPL951, which suggested that a new MacBook Pro is already in the works.
