It is no secret Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has made some questionable comments in the past about minority groups and women.

At Monday's Town Hall event in New Hampshire, the luxury realtor was asked what exactly he is doing to represent women and like any candidate he did his best to clear the air especially after taking into account the controversies regarding his comments towards fellow republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina and FOX News anchor Megyn Kelly.

"I have tremendous respect for women, and I am going to protect women,'' Trump told Matt Lauer. " But my wife and my daughter, Ivanka, who everyone respects, she said 'Dad, you respect and love women so much, could you talk about it more because people don't really understand how you feel.'"

"I think my relationship with women in terms of this whole situation has been really good. I actually score very well in most of the polls with women. It's hard to sort of prove it, but I do have my daughter and my wife saying, 'You have to talk more to women because your relationship with women and the respect you have with women has to be out there.' And I do have great respect for women."

Matt Laurer then reminds Trump that he even admitted to having a lack of support from female voters.

"My support with men is through the roof,'' Trump retorted. "The support with women is a little bit less than the men, that's why Ivanka said to me, 'Dad you have to go out and you have to talk about it because there's nobody that's better to women."

As TODAY points out, Trump uses the fact that he had one woman lead the building of Trump Towers 35 years ago as a proof of his support in addition to an executive board room that consists of 50 percent women.

"Fifty percent of my executives are women, and many of them make more than the men executives, so I've had that great relationship with women,'' he said.

Although Trump is the leading Republican candidate he currently lacks the female vote with Ben Carson leading in Quinnipiac 33-13 according to a poll by Quinnipiac University.
