After Halloween and Thanksgiving comes Christmas, which is also known as the season for holiday shopping and gift-giving.

In anticipation for such an occasion, many are now stalking retail shops and sites for deals and other viable gift options. For the special people in your life, you won't be against buying them items that are pricier than the rest of the thingamajigs you're planning to give those in the outer fringes of your circle of friends or relatives. As such, you might be considering giving the latest from Apple as the perfect holiday gift.

Or should you?

Considering that a new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air will be coming out soon, possibly in the first quarter of next year, it has been anticipated that the current models may receive a price slash, allowing you to get one at less the price.

Discounts on Apple products are not common occurrences - these typically happen when a new version of the current iterations is about to be unveiled.

Recently, it's been reported that previous MacBook Pro models will be getting as much as $800 discounts, Yibada said.

"Electronics retailer Adorama and tech website AppleInsider teamed up in giving consumers the biggest deal on MacBook Pros," the news portal noted. "The exclusive offer will allow readers to save around $300 to $600 on 15-inch MacBook Pro 2015 and up to $800 on 2014 models."

"Aside from extremely generous price cut, the discounted laptops come with three years of AppleCare extended protection that is worth $349, a free LG super drive or other accessory choice, as well as additional cash discounts," it added.

If you want to get the 2016 models, it's likely that you won't be able to do so as a good number of reports have pegged their release date as early next year. However, Geek Snack noted that it's possible MacBook Air 2016 may appear on store shelves November this year, in anticipation of the holiday shopping rush.

"The 2016 MacBook Air will actually have Force Touch incorporated into the track pad, while the comfort mounds will be left alone," the site said. "The keyboard and trackpad will largely stay the same and the measurements will also stay."

"Apple is going to improve on weight and thinness and the new MacBook Air is said to become a record-breaker in the notebook/ultrabook department," it added. "Although some say the same fifth generation Intel Broadwell chips will be present in the base models, the higher-end models of the 2016 MacBook Air are said to introduce a new player to the field, although the player itself remains unknown."
