How is the development of the much-anticipated sequel to the hit animated flick "Frozen" coming along?

Unsurprisingly, the makers of the film are tight-lipped over the project. As such, fans have to contend with speculations and predictions in the run up to the movie's release, said to possibly happen in 2018 - a tidbit that has not yet been confirmed yet.

One of the rumors that has emerged recently is that bit about the LGBT community getting representation through Queen Elsa. She will reportedly come out as lesbian in the sequel, as noted by Yibada.

This speculation arose from "Frozen 2" co-director Chris Buck's comments about the Snow Queen's character development.

"[In Frozen] she had such a dramatic journey, and at the end she's just starting to feel like she can open up and have some fun again," he told Fandango. "That's what was really good about the short -- we could have fun with Elsa. And that personality... you will see in the next one."

Also, in another interview, Buck mentioned that the follow up to "Frozen" could tackle current social issues. This bit appeared to affirm rumors of Queen Elsa possibly revealing herself to be lesbian.

"We have two very strong female leads in 'Frozen,'" he pointed out, as noted by MTV News. "We will keep that going in the next one. We will tackle other issues that, I think, are out there today that boys and girls, men and women, are dealing with. I think we're very aware of what is happening in society."

Speculations about Queen Elsa's gender had been going on for a while since the sequel was confirmed. However, it may take years before pundits will get a solid confirmation of these rumors, which is when part 2 will be released.

Another possible spoiler is that Olaf may possibly have a more significant role in the sequel and may even have a love to call his own. And, according to The Telegraph, this has to happen as it will be financially beneficial to Disney.

"It has to happen. Not only for the plot, but for the merchandise," the news source said. "Olaf is one of the most beloved Disney sidekicks ever created, and with Anna and Kristoff romantically entangled, and Elsa happy ruling her kingdom and getting to grips with her ice powers, blossoming romance is in Olaf's court."

There have also been rumors that Queen Elsa will die, but some opined this is a very unlikely twist, as this will break many "Frozen" fans' hearts.

Also, according to Robbie Collin, it's possible that Princess Anna will get her turn in doing another LSS-worthy song in the film, as having Queen Elsa do a similar thing again may not mirror the smashing success of the original movie's main theme song.

"What they might do is either give the big show-stopping number to Anna, or (more likely, I think) to have both sisters sing it together. That way they can draw on the broad themes that made the original film so popular, but explore them in a completely new context," Collin opined.

"Possibly the sisters will sing a duet about being stronger together while they're being kept separate by some villain or evil force, taking verse about, then line about, and then coming together for a big, soaring chorus," he went on.
