After the international distractions of the last week, Mexican football fans turn their attentions to domestic league action as Liga MX swings back into life for week 13 of the Apertura. Tigres look to extend their lead at the top of the standings while reigning champs Santos Laguna and Dorados look to avoid spending the entire first half of the season propping up the league.

Games on Friday 16th October

Veracruz vs Santos Laguna - 2030 PM

Santos Laguna must be wondering what they have to do to get their season on track and regain some of the form that took them to the title last year. A match against an upward moving Veracruz could be the last thing that they need at the moment. Veracruz need to get the three points in order to ensure that they remain in contention for the post-season places.

León vs Pumas UNAM - 2106 PM

By far the biggest game of the weekend sees the top two sides meet, with Pumas enjoying a great run of form before the international break. Leon lost 4-0 in their last match to Monterrey and, having conceded 23 goals already this season, will be hoping to stop the rot at the back and claim a win that would see them leapfrog their opponents into first place.

Monarcas Morelia vs Atlas - 2130 PM

Morelia are keeping their hopes of a post-season finish alive with a recent spell of good form, but will need to beat an Atlas side that are without a win in three matches if they are to keep their chances of the playoffs going. Atlas, however, will be looking to take advantage of Morelias' home form and start their own run to the playoff positions.

Jaguares are without a win now in four matches, but if they are to have any hopes of a post-season finish then they will need to return to winning ways against Monterrey. Monterrey, who are one place above them, have struggled on the road this season and will hope to end their run of poor form against a Jaguares side, who are a main rival for playoff places.
