Regular seeders and leeches of Kickass Torrents may suddenly discover that they can no longer find the download resource when using Firefox and Chrome.

Tech Times reported the Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox officially blocked the Kickass Torrents website due to the presence of malicious software that might cause computer and software problems among visitors. Torrent Freak stated that https://kat.crand https://kat.cr were blocked beginning Friday, October 9, 2015. When users attempt to visit the website using Chrome, they will find a red screen with a message warning them not to visit the website because of its dangerous content.

"Attackers on kat.cr might attempt to trick you into installing programs that harm your browsing experience (for example, by changing your homepage or showing extra ads on sites you visit)," the message on Chrome read.

"This web page at kat.cr has been reported to contain unwanted software and has been blocked based on your security preferences. Unwanted software pages try to install software that can be deceptive and affect your system in unexpected ways." Firefox stated in the message.

Google's Unwanted Software scanner that Chrome and Firefox both use, found malicious software that automatically downloads into a visitor's computer or device and attacks the system. The Safe Browsing diagnostic page for Kickass Torrent showed a couple of Trojans and one exploit in over one hundred pages of the website. Google stated that the policy will apply to all websites, although torrent sites are favorite targets of malicious distributors.

According to Kickass Torrents, there is a third-party advertiser that had malware included in their ads. The advertiser had reportedly been removed already. Google and Mozilla will conduct a new review which will hopefully find the threat gone. Users can still choose to ignore the warnings and proceed to the website to start downloading.

In July 2015, Chrome also warned users against visiting Kickass Torrents due to unsafe ads. Chrome also warned against proceeding to similar websites like ExtraTorrent and Torrentz. The team at Kickass Torrents, however, warned users to be wary of copycat websites that may only exist to sell expensive VPNs maliciously, collect passwords to attack user data and computers and forwarding malicious ads.

The latest update from Torrent Freak stated that the warning is officially gone beginning Oct. 12, 2015. It took three days for the most popular search sites to review and remove the threat. Users may now continue enjoying Kickass Torrents.
