Argentina will look to bounce back from their surprising defeat at home to Ecuador as they travel to Asuncion to take on a Paraguay side who started their campaign positively with a 1-0 win over Venezuela.

The Paraguayans may have failed to beat Argentina in any of their last five meetings with El Albiceleste and will have fresh memories of the 6-1 defeat that they suffered during the Copa America in June.

Paraguay coach Ramon Diaz believes that his side has matured since the Copa and is convinced his team are ready to take on the World Cup Finalists.

Diaz said: "We wanted to start [qualifying] well, show the football world that Paraguay is back to fight again."

"To play against Argentina is special. It's going to be different from the other two [meetings this year]. We are at home, with our fans. Of course [we can win], it happened for Ecuador so Paraguay can also beat Argentina."

The Argentina team that takes the field in Asuncion will no doubt be a very different looking side given Argentina's injuries, which continued to pile up during the Bolivia match.

Talisman and captain Lionel Messi would have already been ruled out with the same muscle problem that saw him miss the Bolivia match, but add to that the fact that strike partner Sergio Aguero will also be missing will come as an added problem for Argentina coach Gerardo Martino.

With Marcos Rojo and Pablo Zabaleta already missing for the Argentines, Martino will be wary that his side will be susceptible to the fast-paced counter attacks that Ecuador used to such a devastating effect on Thursday.

Carlos Tevez should lead the line for Argentina against Venezuela and the Boca Juniors striker has been speaking about what his side need to change in order to get their qualifying back on track.

Tevez said: "The qualifiers are different and it became clear on Thursday that they are harder than a Copa America match or a friendly."

"But on Thursday there was a lack of attitude. That is what we talked about. The team did not turn up at any time and that is what most worries us."

"We did not make a good start to the qualifiers, but we will have another chance on Tuesday."

Tevez remains an enigmatic force at international level and will be determined to prove himself worthy of featuring regularly in the Argentine side, even when Aguero and Messi return to full fitness.
