Was he in the midst of saving the day again?

Only weeks after sustaining stab wounds after helping to prevent a shooting on an European train and even getting praises as a hero, American serviceman Spencer Stone got stabbed again, this time after a night out with friends in California.

"Surveillance video shows 30 seconds of high drama and raw violence in midtown Sacramento before 1 a.m. Thursday," CNN reported. "What starts with a few punches thrown on a dark street corner quickly spills into the street. Five or six people are in the middle of it all pushing, shoving and trading blows."

"One man falls to the ground at one point, only to quickly bounce back. Eventually, the two sparring sides go their separate ways," the news source added. "Stone was one of those who walked away. But he did so with multiple stab wounds."

The incident early Thursday was clarified as not related to Stone's life-saving act that made headlines weeks earlier. It also was in no way related to a terrorist act, according to police. However, alcohol is said to be a factor in the attack, The Guardian noted.

Stone has since been brought to a hospital, has undergone surgery, and is currently recovering in the intensive care unit. He is anticipated to recover fully. Reports said that he had suffered a collapsed lung in the stabbing.

"He's out of surgery and doing well. He's been upgraded so no longer critical and it looks like he's going to be okay. All I can say is that this world is not short of idiots," the victim's father, Brian Stone, told People.

Sacramento Deputy Police Chief Ken Bernard refused to reveal details of what led to the fight. However, he said there is "no reason to believe Mr. Stone is in any kind of (legal) trouble" and won't be facing criminal accusations, according to CNN.

Currently, authorities are still investigating the incident and are still searching for the other men involved in the altercation.

"Police said they're looking for two Asian males who were wearing blue jeans and white T-shirts, and left in what's believed to be a dark gray or black 2009-2012 Toyota Camry," the news agency reported. Those with information are encouraged to call the police at (916) 264-5471.

"In August, Stone was on a high-speed train from Amsterdam to Paris with two American friends when he noticed a gunman carrying an AK-47," The Guardian recalled. "Together with Anthony Sadler and Alek Skarlatos, Stone tackled the suspected Morocco-born Ayoub El-Khazani to the ground after he opened fire on the train."

Stone nearly lost a thumb in the incident when the gunman stabbed him with a box cutter. Fortunately, medics were able to attend to his injury.
