At the Windows 10 devices event on Oct. 6, 2015, Microsoft introduced several new products and upgrades to existing devices. What caught the public's attention, in particular, were the Microsoft Lumia 950 and 950 XL smartphones, whose reported features had been based on speculation in the past. Finally, here are the official details on the new flagship models.

Mac Rumors reported that the Lumia 950 and Luma 950 XL are the latest flagship models of the company. The Lumia 950 has a 5.2-inch display, while the 950 XL has a 5.5-inch screen. Both phones has a new feature called Glance Screen, which provides vital information when a user takes the device out of his pocket. Glance Screen can be used without using battery life and direct interaction with the handset. The two devices also feature a 20-megapixel rear camera with triple LED RGB natural flash, optical image stabilization and a dedicated camera button on the side.

Both the Lumia 950 and 950 XL have 32GB of internal memory and a USB Type-C connector that allows the handsets to charge up to 50 percent within 30 minutes only. There is a face recognition feature that will unlock the Lumia handsets just by holding these up to the user's face. A short beta demo of the new face detection feature was shown at the event. A demo of the Microsoft Display Dock was also presented. The accessory linked a Windows Phone to a PC, allowing both devices to work together to manage documents and other user data, based on the same Mac Rumors report.

Windows Central revealed that the Lumia 950 XL will run on the Windows 10 Mobile OS out of the box. It has a 1440 x 2560 display resolution and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset. It includes a 5-megapixel front shooter, 3GB of RAM, an iris scanner, micro SD, Qi wireless charging and a 3340mAh removable battery. The device measures 8.1 x 151.9 x 78.4mm, weighs 165 grams and costs $649.

Gizmodo wrote that the Lumia 950 has a WQHD OLED screen and will run on the Windows 10 Mobile OS out of the box as well. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 and includes a 5-megapixel front camera, 3GB of RAM and a 3000mAh removable battery. It is priced at $550.

The Lumia 950 and 950 XL, together with other new Microsoft devices, will be available for pre-order starting October 7. CNet revealed that the smartphones will be available exclusively from AT&T in the United States.
